Raw crushed concrete cannot be used as aggregates in new concrete mixes because it is rich in hydroxide and hydrate phases. Our proprietary, patent-pending technologies transform these weak phases into strong carbonate phases – the same minerals that make up limestone and marble.

CarbonRock Carbonators take in crushed concrete of all size grades, and immerse it in a controlled atmosphere of carbon dioxide. Minerals in the old concrete such as portlandite and tobermorite are chemically converted to calcite. The strengthened materials are then graded to specification and made available for the ready-mix industry and contractors.
